To produce hot-rolled slit strip, the prefabricated slabs, i.e. the blocks of previously cast steel, are continuously rolled in a highly heated state until they have reached a thickness of around 1.50 mm to 20 mm. The rolled steel can then be cut both crosswise and lengthwise into slit strips.

The difference to cold-rolled slit strips is that a thickness of up to 0.50 mm to 2.99 mm can be achieved with cold-rolled flat products. These products can then also be cut into slit strips or sheets and the like.

When it comes to surface finishing, there are many ways to realize the customer's wishes. For example, a zinc coating, which can be applied to the steel using a special galvanic - i.e. electrolytic - process, can be used to produce an electrolytically galvanized slit strip. It is also possible to provide the slit strips with a hot-dip galvanized surface. The special technical and chemical process on which hot-dip galvanizing is based makes it possible to create a product with very specific properties and a high level of corrosion protection. The so-called Galfan hot-dip coating also offers a high level of protection against corrosion, particularly due to the combination of zinc and aluminum and the resulting microstructure. If the surface of the slit strip is galvannealed, i.e. galvanized and annealed, the corrosion resistance is also increased and there is a significant improvement in terms of further processing by painting or welding.
