Heavy loads can be securely and firmly strapped with steel strapping. Items with sharp or pointed edges as well as products that are still packaged in a red-hot state after heating can also be properly and securely packaged for transportation with packaging steel strapping.
Packaging steel strapping is manufactured in various designs and can be supplied bright or blued on request. Depending on the design, packaging steel strapping can withstand a breaking load of up to 25400 N at a thickness of 0.80 mm. There is also the category of so-called high-performance packaging steel straps, which can withstand a significantly higher breaking load due to their special properties. In contrast to packaging steel strapping, there is plastic strapping, for example, which is cheaper and rustproof. In addition, there is no risk of injury compared to packaging steel strapping with sharp edges. Nevertheless, the use of packaging steel strapping is indispensable in special cases. Plastic strapping, for example, would simply melt when the goods are red-hot, which would no longer guarantee sufficient fixation and increase the risk of transport damage, accidents and injuries.
Another advantage of steel strapping over plastic strapping is the particular flexibility of steel strapping, which is a great advantage and benefit in the metal industry in particular. For example, coils or specific pipes have a very small contact surface, which makes packaging with plastic strapping problematic. The specific flexibility of the packaging steel strapping, on the other hand, allows the manufacturer to use the so-called "lasso principle". In this special process, loops are placed around the product in question using a strapping tool and securely fastened with a sealing sleeve. This packaging method is only possible thanks to the special properties of steel strapping.
